When should one start planning an event? - Depending on the event you may need more time to plan the details. We suggest for weddings that you should begin the floral process 8 months to 1 year from the event date.
What is the first step? - Typically we suggest you make a 1 on 1 consultation with one of our designers. We are by appointment only, available Tuesday through Friday.
What should I expect at the Consultation? - During the consultation we will show you some of our portfolio. We go through your likes, wishes, wants. Let's talk linens, style, colors, flowers, logistics. The consultation is 90 minutes so the more prepared you are, the more we can cover.
Do I get a written proposal? - At the end of the consultation, one of our consultants will ask you if you wish to receive a written proposal.
Within 2 weeks time, a proposal will be sent to you via email.
What if I am planning a wedding from out of town? - This is a great question. Many of our clients do not live in the Bay Area. If that is the case, we can set up a phone consultation and work via email. We want to make this process easy for you.
If I want to move forward, what should I do? - After receiving a proposal, we will send you a contract. If you wish to secure our services, simply sign a contract and send in a non- refundable retainer that will be applied to your final balance. The date is now yours!
After the initial consultation and the contract is finalized, will we get a chance to visit the venue? - With our administrative/design fee, we include 1 to 2 meetings after the contract is signed. So if a venue site visit is important to you, that can be arranged. No problem.
Who will be there the day of the wedding to set up the flowers? - Our team is made up of experienced set up people who have been trained by Nancy Liu Chin.
Whether it is one of our designer or even our owner, Nancy Liu Chin, you will have an experienced team there to set up your flowers.
How many weddings do you do per week? - We limit the amount of weddings we do each year. Nancy selects up to 15 - 20 weddings per year. Each project is personalized and unique so we limit the amount of events each year.
HOW TO BUDGET?
What should I expect? - Pricing is one of the hardest questions to answer. It's dependent on many factors including types of flowers, quantity of flowers, color and seasonality. But beyond the flowers, what we do is hand crafted. It's bespoke - so it takes many expert hands to create a unique piece. That is why price is such a hard thing to determine.
Do you have wedding floral and event design minimums? - For 2018, our custom floral designs begin at a minimum is $6500. Those who wish to work with us on event design can do so as an optional add on. Event design begins at $6000. These are two separate minimums. One is for floral design and the other could be for event design services. You can hire us for floral design or floral and event design. That's up to you. Our minimum Floral and Event Design is $12,500.
Are there any additional charges that I can expect in a floral proposal? - Other charges that are not floral related in a floral proposal could include setup, delivery, administration, design charges. And of course there is also taxes! Other things that are always looked over are wait times and strike either that evening or the day after. Those are additional fees that will be added to a proposal.
What should my floral budget be for 100 guests? - Based on information from the past several years, our floral design clients budget approximately $90 -$150 per guest for flowers before taxes and other costs. Another way to look at things is to budget 10 - 12% of your total budget on flowers if florals are a priority.
Do you take credit cards? - For weddings, we happily accent a check or a wire transfer for national and international clients. We are committed to keeping expenses down for our clients so we do not take credit cards. For small non wedding orders, we will take a VENMO or PayPal payment.
What is the tax rate? - In San Francisco, the local tax is 8.50%
What is an administrative fee for? - Often with flowers there are expenses for things that are not necessarily floral retailed. The time to procured special vases and items, meetings, proposal writing are all fees not related to the cost of flowers so our proposals include this nominal fee.
What is the process for corporate or non wedding events?
The process for corporate and non wedding events is very similar. We start with a proposal based on your needs and ideas. Unlike our customized wedding proposals, we do not have a minimum for corporate and non wedding events.
